Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church is recognizable by its limestone walls and a front bell tower topped with three distinct steeples. It holds the distinction of being the oldest church building in Minneapolis to remain in continuous use. The structure originated between eighteen fifty-four and eighteen fifty-seven as the First Universalist Church, built by the First Universalist Society of St. Anthony in a Greek Revival style using stone quarried from nearby Nicollet Island.
