The Plaza Hotel and Casino stands at the west end of Fremont Street, marked by its distinctive glass dome and its position on the site of the original Las Vegas railroad depot. Opened in July nineteen seventy-one as the Union Plaza, the property was built where the first pioneers disembarked in nineteen oh five to settle the town. At its debut, it was the largest hotel and casino in the world and included a train station inside the building, serving as a hub for both travelers and gamblers.
