The Santuario de Guadalupe is defined by its thick, three-foot-wide adobe walls and the cruciform floor plan that has anchored this site near the Santa Fe River since the late seventeen hundreds. As the oldest standing shrine in the United States dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, it marks the end of the historic Camino Real. Visitors often notice the twelve-foot bronze statue of the Virgin standing outside, a recent addition to the grounds that faces toward the city plaza.
