Chelsea Market

Chelsea Market occupies a full city block of heavy timber and brick structures, easily identified by the freight rail tracks of the High Line that pass directly through the building’s western side. Constructed in the eighteen nineties, the complex once functioned as the massive headquarters and factory for the National Biscuit Company, or Nabisco. Inside these walls, workers produced iconic goods like Saltines and, in nineteen twelve, invented the Oreo cookie.
