Electric Lady Studios, located at fifty-two West Eighth Street, is identifiable by its subterranean entrance in the heart of Greenwich Village. Founded in nineteen seventy, it was the first recording studio built specifically for an artist, commissioned by Jimi Hendrix to provide a permanent space where he could create without the constraints of traditional hourly studio rentals.
