Little Singer Building

The Little Singer Building at five hundred sixty-one Broadway is marked by its delicate, deep-green wrought iron balconies that trace each level of its twelve-story façade. Designed by architect Ernest Flagg and completed in nineteen oh three, the structure was built to house the offices and manufacturing operations of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Its name arose as a way to distinguish it from the company’s much larger forty-one-story tower in the Financial District, which stood as the world’s tallest building for a time before its demolition in nineteen sixty-seven.
