The three-story red brick firehouse at fourteen North Moore Street is defined by its arched vehicular entrance and a broad limestone cornice supported by elongated brackets. Completed in nineteen oh three, the building was designed by the city superintendent of buildings, Alexander H. Stevens, as one of the first Beaux-Arts firehouses in the city. It originally featured two matching arched bays, but the structure was reduced in size by thirty-five feet in nineteen thirteen to accommodate the widening of Varick Street.
