Colonnade Row

Colonnade Row is defined by a series of weathered Corinthian columns that once linked a grand, nine-building complex of marble-faced townhouses. Built between eighteen thirty-one and eighteen thirty-three, the structures were originally known as LaGrange Terrace, named for the French country estate of the Marquis de Lafayette. John Jacob Astor developed the site after purchasing the land in eighteen oh four, situating these homes in what was then one of the city's most fashionable districts, even though the surrounding area was still largely fields.
