The Blue Note Jazz Club occupies a storefront on West Third Street, marked by its distinctive signage that bears the name of the venue in an unmistakable typeface. Founded on September thirtieth, nineteen eighty-one, by Danny Bensusan, the club emerged during a period when many of the city’s historic jazz venues were closing. Bensusan, an immigrant who had previously run a disco and a restaurant, purchased an existing Israeli nightclub called David's Harp to create this space.
