Alamo Cenotaph Monument

The Alamo Cenotaph is a sixty-foot-tall structure of gray Georgia marble and pink Texas granite rising from the center of Alamo Plaza. Often called "The Spirit of Sacrifice," this empty tomb commemorates the defenders who died at the Alamo in eighteen thirty-six. It rests on a base forty feet long and twelve feet wide, featuring relief panels of the battle’s participants.
