Susannah Place

Susannah Place is a cluster of four narrow terrace houses and a corner shop built directly into the sandstone bedrock of Gloucester Street. Constructed in eighteen forty-four by Irish immigrant Edward Riley, these buildings feature distinctive party walls that extend through the roofline. While much of the surrounding neighborhood was cleared during urban redevelopment and plague-era demolitions, these structures remained occupied by working-class families for nearly one hundred and fifty years.
