Victoria Park is defined by sixty-four hectares of undulating, open green space that stretches between the suburbs of Herston and Bowen Hills. Known traditionally as Barrambin, or the windy place, the land served as a significant meeting, hunting, and cultural site for the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples for thousands of years. After European settlement, it became a focal point for the city’s early history, officially gazetted as a public recreation reserve in eighteen seventy-five.
