The Eureka Tower rises nearly three hundred meters above the Southbank precinct, its exterior defined by a distinctive crown of twenty-four-carat gold plating and a bold red stripe. These design choices evoke the eighteen fifty-four Eureka Stockade, a rebellion during the Victorian gold rush often cited as a founding moment for Australian democracy. The tower’s blue glass cladding and white lines further mimic the composition of the flag flown during that uprising.
