The Bentway

The Bentway is defined by the massive concrete columns, known as bents, that support the elevated Gardiner Expressway above. These columns create a sequence of sheltered outdoor rooms that stretch for one point seven five kilometers through downtown Toronto. Once a collection of vacant lots and storage areas, this space was repurposed into a public corridor featuring a multi-use trail, gardens, and a figure-eight-shaped skating loop during the winter months.
