HTO Park is marked by a series of large, stationary yellow umbrellas scattered across its sandy shoreline. Opened in two thousand seven, this six-acre space transformed a former industrial brownfield into an urban beach along Lake Ontario. The name itself is a play on the chemical formula for water, H2O, combined with TO, the common abbreviation for Toronto.
