Flæsketorvet is a broad, open space defined by its surrounding low, white-tiled buildings with blue window frames. These structures belong to the White Meatpacking District, completed in nineteen thirty-four to establish a highly hygienic, functionalist center for the city's meat trade. The architecture was designed for efficiency, with interiors intended to be hosed down and exterior lanes built for the movement of goods.
