Ruinerne under Christiansborg

Beneath the seat of Danish power at Christiansborg Palace lie the subterranean remnants of two earlier fortresses. These ruins were discovered by accident in nineteen oh seven when construction crews were digging the foundations for the current palace. Instead of being cleared away, the site was excavated by the National Museum of Denmark and opened to the public in nineteen twenty-four.
