Passage Thiaffait

other

The Passage Thiaffait is a curved traboule, a distinct type of covered passageway found in Lyon, that links Rue René Leynaud to Rue Burdeau. You can identify this space by the monumental portico at its entrance on Rue René Leynaud and the set of stairs that climbs toward the higher street. Completed in eighteen twenty-seven, the path was named after François-Félix Thiaffait, who built the house containing the structure. Shortly after it opened, Father Guérin established an orchestra within the passage to encourage music in the neighborhood.
