Palais de la Bourse de Lyon

historic

The Palais de la Bourse is defined by four massive corner pavilions and a richly decorated neo-Renaissance facade, featuring allegorical statues that represent Lyon’s historic pillars of commerce, industry, and agriculture. Designed by the architect René Dardel, this grand structure was inaugurated by Napoleon the Third and Empress Eugénie on August twenty-fifth, eighteen sixty. It was built to function as the economic heart of the city, bringing together the Chamber of Commerce, the Commercial Court, and the city’s silk brokers under one roof.
