The Quai Saint-Thomas follows the water alongside a five-naved building with a fortress-like steeple, known locally as the Old Lady. This is the Protestant Church of Saint-Thomas, the primary Lutheran church in Strasbourg. While the site held a place of worship as far back as the sixth century, the current structure began its long rise in eleven ninety-six. It is the only hall church in the Alsace region, featuring a design where the nave and side aisles share the same height under a single roof.
