Le Splendid

Le Splendid stands out on the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Martin with a facade that signals its long life as a neighborhood performance space. Originally inaugurated in eighteen ninety-six as the Fantaisies Saint-Martin, the building functioned as a local theater before becoming the Casino Saint-Martin in nineteen oh seven. In that era, the stage hosted performers like Mistinguett and a nineteen-year-old Maurice Chevalier. By the mid-twentieth century, the site had transitioned into a movie theater.
