Les petites ecuries gate

The Cour des Petites Écuries is defined by the narrow, unassuming entryways at sixty-one bis Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis and eighteen Rue d’Enghien, which open into a paved courtyard hidden from the surrounding street traffic. Constructed in seventeen sixty-nine, the space takes its name from the royal stables that were once located in this part of Paris. During the eighteenth century, these facilities housed the carriages and horses used by the crown, a purpose that shaped the layout of the area long before the modern transition to a residential and commercial thoroughfare.
