Cimetière Sainte-Marguerite

The Cimetière Sainte-Marguerite is defined by its quiet, courtyard-like appearance next to the Sainte-Marguerite church, where a small, modest cross stands against the wall as a memorial to the site's turbulent history. Established in sixteen thirty-seven, this former burial ground served local parishioners until it became a mass grave for victims of the French Revolution. Between June ninth and June twelfth, seventeen ninety-four, seventy-three people guillotined at the Place de la Bastille were buried here, followed by others executed at the Place de la Nation.
