Theatre of La Bastille

The Théâtre de la Bastille, located at seventy-six rue de la Roquette, occupies a building that has cycled through many industrial and cultural uses over the last century. Before it became a destination for contemporary dance and theater, the site originally housed a manufacturing workshop. By nineteen twelve, the space had been converted into a large cinema known as the Cyrano, which operated for decades in this corner of the eleventh arrondissement.
