Hôtel de Massa

The Hôtel de Massa is a neoclassical townhouse defined by its history of migration across the city. Built between seventeen seventy-seven and seventeen seventy-nine for Denis-Philibert Thiroux de Montsauge, it originally stood at the corner of the Champs-Élysées and rue La Boétie. When developers sought to replace the mansion with a commercial complex in the nineteen-twenties, the structure was saved by a move that remains a feat of engineering.
