Avenue de Camoëns is a short residential dead-end in the sixteenth arrondissement, measuring only one hundred and fifteen meters in length. It is easily recognized by the ornate, double-flight staircase at its end, which connects the street to the lower-lying Boulevard Delessert and offers a direct, framed view of the Eiffel Tower. Created in nineteen oh four on land formerly belonging to Count Armand and the Count de La Rochefoucauld-Bayers, the avenue bears the name of the sixteenth-century Portuguese poet Luís de Camões.
