The Grande Volière is a monumental metal aviary defined by its intricate ironwork, a structure that has stood within the Jardin d'Acclimatation since eighteen sixty. Designed by Gabriel Davioud, an architect prominent during the Second Empire, the aviary was built to display exotic flora and fauna from around the world. Its design features a series of five distinct compartments, each engineered to replicate different biogeographical zones, including Oceania, Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America.
