The Hôtel de Lamballe is a private mansion in the sixteenth arrondissement identified by the Turkish flag flying above its classical facade. It began as a seventeenth-century residence for French aristocrats before gaining its name from the Princesse de Lamballe, a confidante of Marie Antoinette. The property later operated as a high-end psychiatric clinic where the writers Guy de Maupassant and Gérard de Nerval sought medical care.
