The Île aux Cygnes is a long, narrow strip of land stretching nearly nine hundred meters down the middle of the Seine. Created in eighteen twenty-seven as a dike to protect the port of Grenelle, this artificial island functions as a support for three different bridges. It is characterized by a single, tree-lined path known as the Allée des Cygnes that runs its entire length between the fifteenth and sixteenth arrondissements.
