Street Art Da Cruz "Ourcq"

landmark

The street art along Rue de l'Ourcq is defined by explosive, psychedelic compositions of swirling geometric shapes, vibrant pinks, greens, and yellows, and repeated, stylized masks. These murals, which appear on walls throughout the nineteenth arrondissement, are the signature work of Laurent Dupont, known as Da Cruz. Born in nineteen seventy-six, the artist grew up in this very neighborhood at sixteen Rue de l'Ourcq, where his parents worked as building caretakers. He began painting these walls in two thousand four, drawing on his travels in Africa and South America to develop a style inspired by ancestral, pre-Columbian masks.
