Salle du Manège

The Salle du Manège, or Riding Hall, once stood along the north end of the Tuileries Gardens. Built in seventeen twenty-one for the equestrian training of a young King Louis the Fifteenth, the long, narrow building was characterized by a rectangular structure that stretched fifty-one meters in length. While it began as a royal equestrian academy, the hall is known for its later life as the seat of France’s national legislatures during the height of the French Revolution.
