Mines Paris – PSL occupies a historic eighteenth-century town house known as the Hôtel de Vendôme. You can identify the building by the ducal crown carved into its stone facade, a remnant of its aristocratic past. King Louis the Sixteenth founded the institution in seventeen eighty-three to train engineers for the high-tech industry of that era: mining. The school relocated to this site near the Luxembourg Gardens in eighteen sixteen and has operated here ever since.
