The Square d'Estienne d'Orves is characterized by a series of three tiered fountains that draw the eye toward the Église de la Sainte-Trinité. Designed by engineer Jean-Charles Adolphe Alphand during the urban renewals of the eighteen sixties, the garden is organized around the number three. This numerical theme repeats in the triple-vasque fountains, which are surmounted by statues representing the theological virtues of Faith, Charity, and Hope.
