Sainte-Clotilde, Paris

The Basilica of Sainte-Clotilde is defined by two twin stone spires that rise seventy meters above the seventh arrondissement, giving the building the silhouette of a cathedral. Although its pointed arches and stone needles evoke the Middle Ages, this is a nineteenth-century structure, constructed between eighteen forty-six and eighteen fifty-seven as the first major neo-Gothic church in Paris.
