Le Divan du Monde

Le Divan du Monde, located at seventy-five rue des Martyrs, occupies a site with a layered history of Parisian nightlife. Its entrance, which now adjoins the cabaret Madame Arthur, marks a spot that transformed from a nineteenth-century ballroom into the legendary café-concert known as the Divan Japonais. During the eighteen nineties, the venue drew artists like Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Pablo Picasso, while the singer Yvette Guilbert rose to fame on its stage.
