Rue de la Balance

other

The Rue de la Balance sits in one of the oldest sections of Avignon, nestled at the foot of the Rocher des Doms. Its name likely arrives from an old inn that once displayed a pair of scales as its sign, or perhaps from a local craftsman who made weighing instruments. During the fourteenth century, when the popes resided in the city, this area became home to several grand cardinal residences.
