The Opéra Grand Avignon on the Place de l'Horloge is an Italian-style theater characterized by a Neoclassical façade featuring two superimposed colonnades and prominent statues of the playwrights Molière and Pierre Corneille. Built in eighteen forty-seven, it replaced an earlier municipal theater that was destroyed in a fire just one year before construction began on the current structure.
