Rue de la Bonneterie

other

Rue de la Bonneterie is a medieval street in the historic center of Avignon that has shifted names and purposes over the centuries. Originally known as the rue du Sauvage after a local inn, it later became the rue Saint-Genêt for the parish church that once stood there. By the seventeenth century, the street adopted its current name to reflect the hosiery and textile trades that had become concentrated in this part of the city.
