Liebieghaus

The Liebieghaus is a late nineteenth-century villa built in a palatial, historicist style, recognizable by its distinct castle-like architecture and the surrounding garden on the banks of the River Main. It was originally constructed in eighteen ninety-six for the Bohemian textile manufacturer Baron Heinrich von Liebieg. Before his death, the baron bequeathed the villa to the city of Frankfurt with the specific condition that it be maintained as a public art museum for all time.
