St. Paul’s Church, or the Paulskirche, is a distinctive, oval-shaped building of red sandstone located in the heart of Frankfurt’s Old Town. Completed in eighteen thirty-three after decades of construction, it served as a Protestant church for over a century before becoming famous for a far more secular purpose.
