The Schauspiel Frankfurt on Willy-Brandt-Platz operates as the city's primary venue for spoken drama. While the company traces its roots back to the late eighteenth century, the current structure houses both play and opera performances within a facility completed in nineteen sixty-three. This building replaced an earlier Jugendstil playhouse, designed by Heinrich Seeling in nineteen oh two, which suffered severe damage during a nineteen forty-four air raid.
