Eiserner Steg

The Eiserner Steg is defined by its hundred and seventy meter span of riveted steel trusses, which cut a distinct, dark silhouette across the Main River. First constructed in eighteen sixty-eight, this pedestrian bridge connects the historic heart of Frankfurt to the Sachsenhausen district on the southern bank. A Greek inscription from Homer’s Odyssey is engraved into its structure, chosen to reflect the city’s identity as a place of diverse, intersecting lives.
