Synagoge Friedberger Anlage

The most striking feature here is a heavy, windowless above-ground bunker that occupies the space where the city’s largest synagogue once stood. Completed in nineteen oh seven, the synagogue was the primary place of worship for the orthodox Israelitische Religionsgesellschaft. With over sixteen hundred seats, the building was a centerpiece of Jewish life in Frankfurt, designed by architects Peter Jürgensen and Jürgen Bachmann with elements of neo-Romanesque and Orientalist styles.
