The Deutsches Architekturmuseum, or DAM, is recognizable by the striking contrast between its historic facade and the radical transformation hidden inside. Located along the Museumsufer in Frankfurt, the building began as a nineteenth-century villa before being completely redesigned by architect Oswald Mathias Ungers between nineteen seventy-nine and nineteen eighty-four.
