The Glass House, located at twenty-nine Vadász Street, is a modern structure identifiable by its plain exterior and the commemorative plaques mounted on its walls. Originally a glass factory and shop designed by architect Lajos Kozma, the building provided a rare shelter during the nineteen forty-four terror of the Arrow Cross Party. Because the site was placed under the diplomatic protection of the Swiss Embassy, it became a fragile island for over three thousand people who lived in its cramped cellars and attics.
