Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib rises from the center of Chandni Chowk, a place easily identified by the constant flow of people and the contrast between the quiet within its walls and the chaotic market outside. The building marks the precise ground where Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, was executed in sixteen seventy-five on the orders of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He had refused to convert to Islam and stood in defense of religious freedom for others.
