Hachiko Statue

The Hachiko statue is a small bronze figure of a seated Akita dog, recognizable by his distinctive left ear that droops slightly. He sits in a quiet, grounded posture, representing a real dog who became a fixture of the local station landscape during the nineteen twenties. Hachiko belonged to Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor at the University of Tokyo, who lived in Shibuya and traveled to work by train each day.
