Miyashita Park

Miyashita Park is a three hundred thirty-meter-long, four-story complex that stretches between Shibuya and Harajuku, defined by a distinct, sharp-angled silhouette and a sprawling rooftop green space. Originally established in nineteen fifty-three as a flat-ground park, the site has been repeatedly reconfigured to adapt to Tokyo's dense urban layout. In the nineteen sixties, it was moved onto man-made land above a new parking structure, and by the two thousands, the aging facility became a focal point for debates over public space, homelessness, and redevelopment.
