Broken Pediment Tomb

The Broken Pediment Tomb is carved directly into the sandstone cliffs of the Wadi Farasa valley, marked by a stone triangular roof that is split at the center, a style known as a broken pediment. Unlike the more famous monuments near the entrance of Petra, this site sits along a quieter processional route that leads toward the High Place of Sacrifice. Nabataean masons shaped the tomb during the first century CE, carving the facade from the top of the cliff face downward into the rock.
