Silk Tomb

The Silk Tomb is defined by the striking, iridescent swirls of red, pink, white, brown, black, yellow, and orange sandstone across its facade. Measuring about ten point eight meters wide and nineteen meters high, this rock-cut monument was carved into the western slope of the Jabal al-Khubtha massif during the first half of the first century. It is one of the Royal Tombs of Petra, a series of mausoleums that gained their name from the grandeur of their designs.
